Miller’s Retreat – sleeps 6

Miller’s Retreat is a luxury holiday cottage, adjacent to the historic cornmill and on the site of the former mill kiln, with lovely views over the mill race, Crakehall Beck beyond, and also the historic mill.

3 large en-suite bedrooms. Underfloor heating throughout!  Historic setting, river view.  Complimentary wifi.  The cottage provides a very high  standard of holiday accommodation.

The bedrooms are on the upper ground floor and have either extremely comfortable king-size or super king-size beds. The 2 with super-king sized beds can be made up as twin if you prefer, making this an ideal cottage for families or groups of friends.  All of the bedrooms are en suite – what a treat in a holiday cottage!  Two of the en-suites are shower rooms and the third featuring a bath with shower over. Each spacious bedroom exudes peace and calm.

Light floods into the living / dining room on the lower ground floor which has large settees, a log burning stove, extending ash table, oak floor, underfloor heating and double patio doors out onto the terrace. (High chair available).

The well equipped kitchen with oven / grill, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine etc is well stocked with glasses, crockery, variety of pans and dishes – all you require for your holiday needs – and the bonus of a pretty view over the flower bed with culinary herbs, and stream beyond.

Outisde, there are several seating areas, either the terrace outside the living room, the patio with table and chairs and BBQ, or the small patio outside one of the bedrooms.

You can walk across the private bridge along the banks of the Beck to open fields and footpaths in one direction or to the village green in the other.  Crakehall Green is a beautiful setting for cricket and village events – and you can call at the village pub, the Bay Horse, most lunchtimes or evenings, and sit outside to watch the cricket or quoits match, or  inside to catch up on local happening. Meals are generally served everyday except Mondays.  A little further on is St Gregory’s church and then Crakehall self-service petrol station. The pretty market town of Bedale, just 2 miles away, has 2hrs free parking on the High Street (disk parking – we can supply you with a disk) and has a wide range of independent shops, a traditional market on a Tuesday, and small supermarkets too.

No smoking & sorry no pets (however we do welcome 1 well behaved small/medium sized dog to stay with its owners in Watermill Croft Cottage).
